The thing with wants and needs, is that one needs means.. And in order to attain means, you need either a healthy trust fund, daddy’s credit card or believe or not a damn JOB.. And those that work, would tell you, its not all that rosy and fulfiling as its made out to be.. However there are certain aspects with regards to the workplace that many a person have disregard for.. Either knowingly or not..

The word WORK, says it all.. You are there to work.. You are not getting paid to get to work on your own time, and then respond to all ur personal mails and calls and then decide to slot in some productive time in between all your personal agendas.. You goto work and do what is required of you.. Obviously there are certain times where a personal crisis arises and those heed priority.. But many a person, espescially indian folk goto work and basically have a home away form home setup.. Call the painter, do my banking, make appointments, surf the internet and read blogs.. (if its this one you are pardoned as its aweseome).. You have lunch and tea breaks to tend to all these personal needs.. Use that time for it.. Your work time is a TRUST handed to you.. Do NOT misuse that trust.. Your wealth might not be kosher.. (point to ponder)

Another fascinating thing i saw is the workplace becoming a homework desk for little kids.. Yes its true.. Their sorry old folks come to work.. Use office paper and stationery, use work hours to search the net for research and then spend half the day putting it all together.. The stationery at work is for WORK.. Again, the issue of trust comes in.. Numerous guys take reams of paper home for their home printer, take a pen or few for their personal home study’s.. They use work assigned blank CD’s and DvD’s to burn movies and mp3’s on.. There is no other word to describe this but THEFT.. Thats right, you are stealing.. From the person who is the means of providing your daily bread.. Its the equivelant of a domestic worker stealing ur cutlery on a daily basis.. One spoon is not a major issue.. Neither is a pen.. But your integrity is.. Remember that..

The office phone suddenly becae a ghost sim.. U know those phones where u speak and speak and never end up paying.. Once again.. It is a means provided to you to do WORK.. Not abuse and call your 3rd cousins’s dogs vet in another country to discuss k9 nutrition.. 90% of people in t6he workplace have a personal cellphone.. simple.. If its a persoonal call.. Use ur personal phone.. Its not rocket science…

Time is money.. And money is what its all about at the end of the day.. How many of you’s know people that mis-state their time.. U know.. In an 8 hour day… They charge 8 hours working.. I heard of okes, strolling into work at 9am and leaving at 3:30pm.. Taking a 2 hour lunch and filling in their timesheet to say they were fully utilised for 8 hours.. Once again.. STEALING..

Many other small issues also relate to these such as taking home the left over coffee supplies and spoons etc.. Mis-stateent of ur expense sheets and mileage.. All these will eventually catch up with u one day.. It does NOT matter that u feel u under-paid and over-worked that its justifiable to do these things.. A sad and disgusting excuse i heard was the oke told me, i can cos my employer is a Non-Muslim and they deal with interest money.. So whats it to them.. I was gobsmacked.. 2 wrongs dont make a right.. Such logic is daft and absurd..

So to conclude. Be mindful of your actions at work.. Your job is a trust provided to you based on the contractual agreement signed upon your arrival there.. Adhere to it and be honest is your dealings. At the end of the day.. Always remember, God is watching…
