I dunno if its just me, but i think people who bad mouth their bosses and employers to be cowardly.. I have being reading tweets and FB status etc of how people want to run their bosses down with a tractor and how they wish he could choke on his sandwich etc etc.. Like seriously. Is that the best you have.. Chances are you are so damn incompetent in what you do, hence the poor guy is on your case the whole day..
From an ethical point view its highly un-cool to do such a thing.. It also is a reflection of your character.. It shows the kind of person you are.. You hae a rough day at work. Fair enuf. Shit happens. Say you had a personal matter to take care of. In doing that, you slack in your work. Hence your boss is on ur caseĀ as the powers that be are on his.. So he tells you off.. And rightfully so. He doesnt give a rats ass as to how you forgot to apply mascara todayand hence ur day was a disaster etc etc.. His job is to make sure that your work is done. Simple.. What gives you the right to go on Facbook andverbally abuse the man.. And doing so becos he was just doing his job.. That is a sign of disrespect and lack of izzat (integrity)..
Lets not forget the re-percussions of ur statements. What if someone he/she knows happens to see it. You have directly spoken-ill of your superior. There are consequences for that in certain organizations, and rightfully so. No Tom, Dick and Sally can say what they want about another and getaway with it. You all not Julius Malema..And then there are those who take it a step further, and mock the firm / organisation/company that they work for.. That is a sin…
You swear the hand that feeds you. Those that are guilt of this are equivelant to child rapists. You the one in need of a job.. You need bread on ur table.. You need all those fancy things ur eyes desire.. Yet you go on twitter and say “I hope Company XYZ crash and burn to the ground” I mean really.. That is not something a model professional does.. U have conflict at work.. There are protocols to follow.. Dont go around babbling ur mouth on social forums looking like an arse..
Social media is a uniqe thing.. It could be the tool used in ur claim to fame and similarily to your downfall as well.. Just a note to all you bad-mouthers out there..

Well the wheel turns… Let’s say you have been badmouthing your boss on twitter and facebook and possibly your blog too. Then you say “bugger this job for a lark, I’m going to apply for another job, greener pastures, etc”. There’s nothing that will make a potential employer drop you like a hot potato quite like finding derogatory comments about your present / previous employer on the internet. Recruitment angencies specialise in social media background checks these days. So tell it to your mother if you have to, but keep it the hell off the net. It’s called PR and you are representing your own brand name, bitch.
Good point. I didnt even explore that angle of possible recruiters..
Well said. Im sending this link out to some idiots at work.
Say what you feel like, dont say what you dont feel like. Does it really even matter whether you represent yourself or not? At the end of the day, there is no right or wrong way to behave. Ethics deem acceptable or unacceptable behaviour patterns. Whose to say you do something really unacceptable to one company, get blasted, another company hears about it and hires you for your guts/ignorance? Clearly differences in companies ethics represent the vast human condition at collective levels.
POINT BEING – People are DIFFERENT. The provider provides, not the employer. Be good to the provider, he will be good to you
Just because the Internet has given us the opportunity to have a public voice, it doesn’t mean we should use it to say whatever we want.
Unfortunately, the ease and freedom with which we can publish things online have eroded many people’s sense of accountability – as if something said on the Internet or in e-mail doesn’t really ‘count’ – as compared to things they say in person, in the physical world.
Here at work, we recently wrote a course on the risks of using electronic communications media inappropriately (incl. social networking, email, etc) – and these are the very issues that were discussed.
Publishing this kind of stuff can lead to legal consequences – and even if you wake up, regret what u published, and take it down soon afterwards; there’s always a chance someone saved it and can forward it to someone else.
Once it’s on the Internet / accessible to others – you have no control over what happens to it.
That’s why it’s best to think before you speak (or in this case, tweet or type).
